Marianne Greenwood Photography Retrospective The National Arts Club and Wings WorldQuest present a retrospective of the remarkable career of Swedish ethnographic photographer Marianne Greenwood from February 28 to March 5. Born in Lapland in northern Sweden, Marianne Greenwood moved to St. Paul de Vence, France, after World War II. In 1963, she began 30 years of travels all over the world. Eventually she would traverse the world six times and visit the still-wild lands of the Americas and the Pacific basin, where she lived with the native peoples for extended periods.
As It Is in Heaven Receives Academy Award Nomination The Swedish feature film As It Is in Heaven (Så som i himmelen), directed by Kay Pollak, has been nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2005 Academy Awards.
Shout Out Louds: EP Release and U.S. Tour The Stockholm quintet is breaking new ground in the U.S. with an EP release on Capitol Records and an upcoming national tour, including a show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on February 21.
The 2005 Year of Design Commissioned by the Swedish Government, the 2005 Year of Design is a national program to emphasize and promote design "as a force of development in the private and public sectors."
