Traditional Swedish Midsummer Celebration in Battery Park City in Manhattan

The annual Swedish Midsummer Celebration will once again take place in Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park in Battery Park City on the southwestern tip of Manhattan on June 24.

On the Friday closest to the actual summer solstice, Swedes celebrate Midsummer's Eve, rejoicing in the light of the sun and the arrival of summer with traditional midsummer festivities throughout the weekend. This major holiday is usually celebrated in the heart of nature, as Swedes head out to the countryside to enjoy food, drink, games, dancing and general revelry.

Inscriptions Unveiled and Essay Winners Announced at Nobel Monument Ceremony

The names of the most recent American Nobel Laureates will be unveiled at an inscription ceremony at the Nobel Monument in Theodore Roosevelt Park in New York City on June 13. The same event will include an announcement of the winners of the first-ever Laureates of Tomorrow Nobel Essay Contest.

A retrospective exhibit of the work of Billy Klüver, a Swedish engineer who settled in the U.S. in 1954 and who played a pivotal role in the development of the modern art world by helping artists incorporate technology in their work, is showcased at the New York Hall of Science in Queens this summer.
